Think Construction Skills can help experienced workers get their blue card in as little as a few weeks. This card is available only after completing your NVQ Level 2 Construction Assessment.
If you have completed an employer-sponsored apprenticeship or hold the relevant Level 2 NVQ qualification then having this card will help you prove that you meet the legal requirements necessary to practise your trade.

Before you can apply for your Blue CSCS card, you need to make sure that you have a Level 2 NVQ in Construction. Why?
The UK government are trying to upskill the construction workforce, getting everyone qualified and competent to take on a growing number of projects across the country.
There are a number of funding initiatives available to help you get your Level 2 NVQ free of charge, such as the CITB levy.

Your Blue CSCS Card lasts 5 years before you need to renew it. Upon renewing it, you must also make sure you have a recently completed (within 2 years) CITB Health, Safety & Environment test, in addition to your Level 2 NVQ.
Enrolment is done over the telephone.

An Assessor will ring you to make arrangements to visit you on your site to assess your performance and knowledge against your chosen qualification. You will agree with your Assessor what tasks he will need to observe you doing and to what standard when he comes to site.
Once you have completed your NVQ and have an up-to-date Health and safety test, you will be able to apply for the suitable CSCS card.
You can use the CITB CSCS Card Finder to help you decide which CSCS card to apply for and which CITB Health, Safety & Environment test you need to pass based on your occupation.
Once you have successfully completed your industry-recognised qualification you will be able to apply for other types of cards, from red to green, blue, gold and black.
